So you have finally made up your mind to buy a cubby house. Though it is completely your choice whether to go for a readymade cubby house or a DIY one, yet I would suggest that sometimes a DIY kit appears to be a better option, for obvious reasons. First, a DIY kit is relatively cheaper. Second, assembling a DIY kit can be a very good learning exercise for both you and your kids, since it comes with all the pieces already measured and cut. You need not do any cutting or modification, whatsoever. Of course, it’s better to go for a DIY kit if your kids are big enough to understand what you are doing and also are able to participate in the building exercise.
Although we all know the benefits of a DIY kit and I need not explain them, still I would like to mention my own reasons to buy the same.
a)It enhances the motor skills of children.
b)Since children are involved in building their cubby house, it gives them a feeling of belongingness and they definitely treasure it more and feel more close to it.
c)It also plays important role in infusing curiosity and innovation in the children, as they try using the cubby house in almost all their games.
I must give you some tips that you must remember while going for a DIY kit of a cubby house:
1. It should be completely in accordance with the age of your children. If your kids are too small then a DIY kit might not be that appealing as it will be only you getting engaged in that activity. Nothing for kids to do as such.
2. You should do some pre-work before finalizing a cubby house for your kids. What I mean here is that you should know the area you want to cover, the material you would be going for so that it is easy for your kids to be a part of that activity.
3. Not only that, you must also analyze what kind of DIYwooden cubby house will be easy for you to assemble. Try going for a rather simpler one than the one requiring a great deal of effort in building.
4. Last but not the least, you must always check for all the parts before leaving the store. Make sure that parts are not only durable abut also quite safe for children. The quality of the cubby house should never be compromisedto save the cost.
